Best Practices
Integration and operational guidance for working with Bitruvius decoders in production. The public portion of this section covers decoder-side concerns only. Encoder-specific guidance is confidential and available to licensed customers in the customer portal.
Topics
- Tiled workflows — decoding many small tiles efficiently.
- Error handling — what to expect and how to recover.
- Air-gapped deployment — DoD, SCIF, and disconnected environments.
- Online activation — optional API-key leases for connected encoders.
Principles
- No network dependency. Decoders never phone home, and the codecs themselves make no network calls and embed no HTTP client. Online activation is optional, handled out-of-band by the SDK or your own code, and never per-image.
- Fail closed on corrupted input. Decoders return errors; they do not panic or exhibit undefined behavior on malformed files.
- Deterministic output. A given input decodes to bit-exactly the same bytes on every supported platform.
